I guess murder is ok at long as it's convenient though.
Are we going to have an abortion debate today or what?
Let's do that tomorrow.
Today explain to me why taxpayers or employer s should pay for a woman to have a child. ??
Because to me it seems like everyone should just pay their own way. Seems fair and simple.

K come at me tomorrow.
I mean, I'm Canadian. I will never understand the whole "not my tax dollars" BS. The government provided me with the maternity care that every Canadian woman is entitled to. Because its not just your tax dollars. Its mine too. I paid into the same system. And, after having a child i deserved disability. Because i was disabled. Which is what maternity care is. I was in absolutely no state to return to work for a long while.
You know what every functioning healthy community does? They take care of their old, their sick and their young. I have never in my life walked into a hospital and seen and addict and thought, that guy doesnt deserve basic human rights, HEALTH CARE. Which is what maternity care is.
Not only to add that the USA has some of the highest mental health issues with youth in the world. Maybe the highest. Americans don't even have the resources to raise their own children anymore. They get pawned off to a daycare 5 days a week, 10 hours a day well their parents struggle to get by.

If you're struggling to get by you can't afford to be having kids. That's a novel idea . Kinda like if you're struggling to get by you don't go buy a speed boat. ..(a bass boat is perfectly acceptable) before you get knocked up you need to make sure your financialy able to raise a child. Your husband may need to work two jobs. But to expect someone else to pay to raise your child is shameful.
In preparing for tommorow.
I'm wearing my maga hat right now. ...and I'm prochoice ......my judgement isn't clouded by religion.

You mean expect a woman to raise a child like men do? It's so easy for men to tell us we are savage for not keeping them, yet so often easy for them to walk away and leave us to clean up their mess. At the end of the day. I have my husband. But my son will always be on me.
You're missing the point. The cost of living in many parts of the USA is much higher than the working wage. At least on the west coast where i am from. Hard working people cant afford children. Which is what this entire conversation is about. Why arent people having kids? They cant afford it. Why not? No government assistance. It goes full circle my friend.

I'm a bit lost by the first part of your post.
I believe it takes two to raise a child. I believe two people should make sure about who their laying down with to make the child.
I believe the responsibility of raising the child should fall on its parents and no one else. I'm sorry if you see it differently.

I see it the same way you do. But. Women carry the child. And if you decide to leave we are in most situations left to deal with it. So, men dont have a say. Thats how i see it. But we can save this riveting discussion for another day :deadhorse:

fence, i don't either. we don't have a population sustainability problem around here. when i go to town there are a lot more people than there was 40 years, 20 years, or even a couple of years ago.callmefence said:I cannot for the life of me figure out why we need more people.
Thank you. That's the part I was wondering if you were referring to.cowgal604 said:greybeard said:The US has if I'm not mistaken the worst maternity care programs in the world
What exactly does that refer to or entail?
I receive a $483 cheque every month from the government just for having a child under the age of 5, doesnt matter if you make $1 or $1M you still get the cheque.
That was tried here too for about 40 years (and is still to some extent) then the govt finally realized some women were having as many kids as they could, one right after another for the sole purpose of getting the big and free $$$.
I'm sure babydaddies had a lot to do with that process as well.
What does the worst maternity care in the world mean?
I quote "The U.S. infant mortality rate (5.8 deaths under one year of age per 1,000 live births) is 71 percent higher than the comparable country average (3.4 deaths)"
But its not just that. Parents are offered in the majority of situations no maternity or paternity leave. Zero. They have to rely on time off without pay, vacation pay or the few weeks they may get from some of the better benefit providers but it comes with a risk of losing their job. There is no current protection for women in the US taking a leave. There is also no government assistance in place to help families have children.

Right...the answer is to force women to have children they don't want. :bang:

More whining from those who want privilege but do not want to exercise personal responsibility. You use your past "hardship" to complain when you had a choice.
"cowgirl" I am happy you are not a member of my family because your attitude shows how cheap you believe life to be.
I have often wondered why people today want to make it easier to kill a child than to adopt one? Sounds like you are one of them.
I have seen enough dead baby bodies coming out of a couple of holes in the ground in my life to know your response makes me think you are not worth spit.
Your response makes it clear to me that you are part of the problem and definitely not part of the solution.
So, why not let a few folks in from a despotic nation and let them move in next door to you and that way you can keep the population at the numbers you want.
As you are a west coaster AND a Canucklehead you are indeed more socialist that a Californian - perhaps you should move down there and teach them how to become even more like you.
Now that you might be ticked at my honest response to your lack of humanity go and look in the mirror and think - after all your mother gave birth to you - it was and is the MOST important thing a woman could do - THE most important - but you do not seem to value that - you cheapen it - sad and shameful.
