Honestly you dont need to spend what 20-60 dollars on a video. There are plenty of sites that are devoted to beginners. Steerplanet.com had a page about halter breaking with Red or something. Check that out. Also another idea is start touching them NOW! even if you dont have a halter get yours...

Obviously the 1st bull is the clubby looking one. Jay hit it on the spot. They have that look, but draw backs. I don't normally like "clubbie" heifers, but the steers I don't have a problem with because they won't be bred later on. JMO

For a "show heifer" I would rule out WW, BW, Dam's Udder, and Blood lines. Those sound like replacement traits IMO. Look for a calf that is uniform in her depth and length, stands on very correct feet, and who is easy moving. Depending on your level of competition, you may want to go deeper...
