We have a nice clean fronted, mod size March Heifer that we need some ideas on what to breed her to. Thanks for any help!

What are your plans- goals?

What is she like? More detail is needed than what your provided. Maybe a picture can help.

What do you want... another show calf? a performance animal?

How long do you intend to keep her?

She is a Polled Hereford that is clean fronted with nice thickness and correct. I would like to breed her to a easy calving bull that might also give us a calf that we could show but the main thing is a live calf and cow. I plan on keeping her for many years. I have been told to try Felton's Legend 242, Purpur Inferno, and Harddrive but i didn't think he was a heifer bull. So any ideas would be great and helpful. I have notice on this board that shorthorn bulls are talked about alot but not herefords. And on that note the bull can be horned or polled.

I am not that big a fan of the 242 bull, but MANY others are.

So bulls I would suggest: NS LAKES KILO 002, NJW 1Y WRANGLER 19D, THM Sleep Easy 3060

Those have low to decent birth weights. They also have a very nice package for the show ring.

The best advice you could use: She's a heifer will a long road ahead of her, don't ruin her with big calf from one of the top show bulls. (Sounds like you already know that- most dont).

I REALLY like the Kilo bull.... not only him, but his calves! They come small and hit the ground running. For the most part, he is a complete outcross, and can clean up almost any type of cow.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did some research and so far i'm leaning toward Kilo. Thanks again. Any other ideas?

We have had good luck with Kilo. Also 242 is a good calving ease, remember, that is the most important thing with a heifer!
