Need opinions on possible truck purchase

It is a 4x4, but I was mistaken about one thing.. It's a 5-spd manual w/ bulldog -- not a 4-spd.. Not sure if that makes much difference, but I wanted to clarify. Probably should call about it, though it's more than I wanted to spend... The call's free, though.

Need opinions on possible truck purchase

I also found a '90 F250 regular cab longbed with 110K miles, 300-six EFI, 4spd manual w/ bulldog, and it was $2,200. I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you guys would probably be of the opinion that the '90 would be well worth the extra $700 over the '85/460ci. I kinda do too, but.... Well...

Need opinions on possible truck purchase

Been looking for a farm truck for a while now.. I don't want anything I'd be afraid to get scratched (or dented) up, which means most of what people consider "farm trucks" nowadays ($40K+) are out the window. Basically, I want a reliable 3/4-ton beater. Called about an old Ford I saw the...

    Winding Barbed Wire

  Mine's not nearly as fancy.. It's red, with two long handles and a hardened steel jaw. :help:

    Mastercraft tires?

I had some Mastercraft Courser AT's in 33x12.50 once... Never could get them balanced right, but then again, they were on a regular cab Toyota Tacoma w/ a 3" suspension lift.. Didn't take much to bounce a truck that light and short and a stiffer-than-stock suspension, so it balancing might not...

Reckon this is a good deal?

Sorry it took so long to get back to this thread, gang.. I've got entirely too much on my plate right now. Anyway, I appreciate all the input.. At the end of the day, I decided I'd rather have the money than the truck, and considering I didn't actually have the money anyway, it sorta became a...

Reckon this is a good deal?

2003 Dodge Ram 3500 1-Ton Dual rears (of course) "Quad Cab" four door Cummins 24V Turbo Diesel Automatic transmission Power everthing (windows, locks, etc) New-looking, but plain-jane flatbed made by "CM Trailers" 144K Miles The only thing I could see wrong was that it had a little bit of paint...

    Brilliant!

My job for this weekend is to get my electric fence charged.. Ran a 20A circuit to an outbuilding close to the fence this week.. Just gotta get the charger plugged in, hooked up, and probably do a little initial troubleshooting and short-finding.. I ran about 16,000 feet of hi-tensile wire...

Insurance. You ain't going to belive this but!

I believe it. Had nearly the same thing happen to me, but it was only one very determined border collie.. She ripped the rubber/asphalt liners out and started yanking at wires.. Pulled the driver's side turn lamp wire until it broke off at the socket, then jerked a sensor wire out of either...

    Water in floorboard of Truck

Sometimes it's nearly impossible to figure out where water's coming into a vehicle, so my suggestion is that you should reverse the process. Fill your cab with water and see where it comes back out. Plug all the leaks until all the water stays in the cab and you should be good to go. The only...

    Opinions Please

Cherokees and Grand Cherokees are both unibody constructed.. I hooked an empty (but heavy) 16' b/p steel stock trailer to my Cherokee and they didn't get along too well.. The 4.0L was plenty strong enough to pull it, but the weight of the trailer pushed the Jeep around pretty bad.. The Grand...

    Opinions Please

I had a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0L, 4x4, auto for about six months.. The 4.0L is bulletproof, but the transmission worried me.. A lot.. It would shift funny every now and then, and sometimes had a little too much 'lag' when you'd go from P to D.. Power controls were spotty at best, and...

    Stock trailer rebuild

I guess I'd need to tear the old floor out to get a better look.. Only problem is, I need the trailer to haul the new lumber. I'm hoping I can deck it lengthwise with 2" thick, 16' long green oak in various widths.. My lumber guy charges something like $.90/board-foot for that grade...

    Stock trailer rebuild

So, you guys are saying that your trailers have runners going lengthwise, and that your lumber goes in parallel with the axles? Mine appears to have "factory" steel runners parallel with the axle, as though the lumber should run lengthwise.. It looks like, however, that somebody added some...

    Would you buy it?

It's already sold. This makes three times I've let a good deal on a good truck get past me... The first was a '92 F250, 4x4, 7.3L, 5spd w/ somewhere around 150K miles, asking price of $2,000.. The second was an '86 F150, 300-6, 4spd manual, 4x4 with a good heavy flatbed and just...

    Would you buy it?

I'm looking to buy a decent old work truck, but I'm not looking for payments. That's code for "cheap." I put about 22-25K mi/yr on vehicles, so it needs to have some life left in it. I found one that might fit the bill, but I'd like some input. 1991 Dodge Ram 250, Cummins Diesel...

    Learned a lesson today....

My dad ran my brother's Tundra halfway into Norris Lake in TN once.. They had a jetski to unload from the bed, so my dad was backing it down an auxiliary ramp to where the end of the tailgate touched the water.. What they didn't realize that the auxiliary ramp was only gravelled past a few...

    Jacking up a cattle trailer

Ahhh.. Didn't know Ford put blocks on at the factory... Didn't know anybody put blocks on at the factory, honestly.. If that's the case, then I'd say the GN just doesn't work right with the truck.. Before I'd mod anything, I'd just find another trailer. I know how bad that sucks...

    Jacking up a cattle trailer

If this is a trailer you're "looking at," then I'd save myself the trouble and stop looking at it. Then, I'd start looking for a bumper pull and a drawbar with a 4-6" drop. Or, you could put the truck back to stock height.. Maybe I'm misreading something, but my understanding is that you've...

Thanks, herf.. That's definitely something to think about!
