Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

It's just easier for people to get what breed she is if I say she is a Lim-Flex. Her mom is a club calf, but would be a Lim-Flex if she was registered with NAL. The owners just registered her with Texas Club Calf Association instead just to show in youth shows.

Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

Her sire is a LimFlex and is registered with some association. Her mom is a registered club calf. I just haven't tried to keep up with the breed association since this calf will also be registered only as a club calf.

Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

Her parents aren't registered with Limousin. She is a club calf. Thanks guys! She is as red as a Hereford right now, but those black points are getting me! I will post pics soon!

Lim-Flex Calf Born Red, Turning Black?

My first calf heifer calved a solid red heifer calf back in November. The calf, Dorothy, is now almost 2 months old. She was born just about as bright of red as you can get. Now as she is shedding a little, her muzzle, around her eyes, and her poll all are darker (almost black). Has anyone ever...

Lim-Flex Heifer Calf: 1 hour old

Her sire is a registered Lim-Flex and her mom is 1/2 Limousin 1/4 Angus 1/4 Charolais. So Dorothy is 5/8 Limousin, 1/4 Angus, 1/8 Charolais. If I didn't have that 1/8 Char in her she could be registered as a Lim-Flex. It just makes it easier to tell people she is than have to list off all the...

The Day We Have Been Waiting For

Haha funny you should say that angie.. This heifer has been the most difficult animal I have ever had. It took me 3 months just to get her to walk continuously, not kick the show stick, or try to bulldoze me down. Even today she charged me  She's kinda like one of those annoying...

Lim-Flex Heifer Calf: 1 hour old

Yes she did finally nurse. My heifer didn't have much milk production in her front set of teats, so I had to show Dorothy that there were others behind there. But now she is nursing great! Thank you!

Lim-Flex Heifer Calf: 1 hour old

Wanted to post some pictures of my new born Limousin/Angus/Charolais heifer, Dorothy! From my show heifer, Snooki. Born healthy on 11/12/11! So what do you think? Right now, I am just in love with her little, fuzzy ears ;-) I will post pictures of her as she grows up!

The Day We Have Been Waiting For

Well, after many nights staying up, checking on my heifer, she finally calved!! On 11/12/11 at 11:15 am, I got a healthy red Lim-Flex heifer calf!! There is a long story behind this little girl.. My heifer, Snooki, was 2 weeks over due. We were very anxious waiting for her to have this calf. I...

    Neighbor's Bulls

I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered a situation where a neighbor's bull breeds one of your cows? My heifer is due any day now, but once she has calved I am not planning on breeding her until at least January. On 3 sides of our property there are 3 sets of cows and bulls. Should I be...

    weaning

Separating the mother and the baby by a fence is how I weaned my foal from her mom and it is also how I plan to wean my calf from my cow once the time comes. All our fences are "horse fence," Red Brand 2" x 4" wire fencing. It worked wonderful for my filly! Hoping it works the same for my calf too!

    our cattle

It is kinda difficult with the pictures tilted like they are, but I think the Charolais and the Shorthorn are nice

    What do you think?

No we did not. Her breeder was John Mayer. Then I bought her from a small 4-H/FFA family that had her since last July.

    What do you think?

Due in mid September. I can talk to my vet and see what they say. I didn't know you could trim that far along. I do agree she needs them done!

    What do you think?

sim.-ang.king: She is bred to a black Limousin bull, Pirelli. VCC: She is too far along in her pregnancy right now to get trimmed; once she calves we will get those long toes of hers taken care of

    What Breed to Cross With?

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=71461 This link is to my other posting with pictures. Sorry for the messed up Facebook link.

    What do you think?

I am a real newby to showing cattle.. How much will her topline count her off and what is actually wrong with it. To me, it just doesn't seem very strong and it looks kind of "bumpy." Is that pretty accurate? She is a very wide heifer, also. I will try to get a head on shot and one from behind...
