I'm thinking about getting a heifer calf....But I want one that's pretty young so I can work with her enough that she'll make a good show heifer. What time of year is best for getting young heifers (Like, 7 months old.)? Fall? Or spring?

I have no idea on that one. Probably the same reason my steer thought it was great fun to bowl his water trough over all summer so I would have to go turn it upright on a daily basis. :roll:

In your opinion, what breed has the mellowest temperment? The breed I've had an experience(and very little of it) with was a 3/4 Angus, 1/4 shorthorn steer. He was a little on the wild side, but that was probably from being ranch raised (never had a halter on until he was about 800 LBS) and...

Also, I'm looking as some Livestock show rules and many of them say in order to show a heifer she must be 3/4 purebred.... Are all shows like this, or only Arizona Nationals and AZ state fair? My county fair doesn't have any requirements like that. So would it be a bad idea to buy a crossbred...
