    Sundog mini cattle?

I've been e-mailing a breeder who posted goats (and cows) for sale on Craigslist. Out of curiosity I asked what breed of "mini cattle" she had. She has Sundog cattle? I googled them, but can't find out alot about them. They look really cute though! Does anyone out there have any experience with...

What exactly is a "club calf"?

I BEG YOUR PARDON! I am a 4-H member, and I bought my steer this year with a cashier's check out of my own bank account, picked him out myself at a ranch, halter broke him and did all that. YOU guys must be talking about the Steer 4-H leader's daughter. She's the one who had it all handed to her...

When is the best time to get a just weaned heifer calf?

I'm thinking about getting a heifer calf....But I want one that's pretty young so I can work with her enough that she'll make a good show heifer. What time of year is best for getting young heifers (Like, 7 months old.)? Fall? Or spring?

What exactly is a "club calf"?

I hear this term everywhere on cattle breeders websites.... I have no clue what it means! Pardon me, please--I'm still a newbie...Just finished my first year in steer 4-H and can't wait to learn more and do it again!

I Am Getting Ticked Off at the Little Fellows!!!

I have no idea on that one. Probably the same reason my steer thought it was great fun to bowl his water trough over all summer so I would have to go turn it upright on a daily basis.

In your opinion, what breed has the BEST temperment?

In your opinion, what breed has the mellowest temperment? The breed I've had an experience(and very little of it) with was a 3/4 Angus, 1/4 shorthorn steer. He was a little on the wild side, but that was probably from being ranch raised (never had a halter on until he was about 800 LBS) and...

    Chianina

Tell me all you can about Chianinas. I've never seen a pure Chianina, just Chiangus at the county fair. Are Chianina mellow? As compared to like, Angus?

What is the going price right now for 6 month old heifers?

Hmmm....I would be will to pay as much as $800 for a GOOD quaility REGISTERED heifer...as long as the breeder isn't trying to rip me off. Lol. Had that happen with my steer...And the person was supposedly a client and friend of the family! So....If I look into registered stock....Does anyone...

What is the going price right now for 6 month old heifers?

Also, I'm looking as some Livestock show rules and many of them say in order to show a heifer she must be 3/4 purebred.... Are all shows like this, or only Arizona Nationals and AZ state fair? My county fair doesn't have any requirements like that. So would it be a bad idea to buy a crossbred...

County fair's over and I miss my steer!

Thank you everyone for the kind words.....I knew his end was coming, and that's why I named him T-Bone....And I used to tell him every night while he was eating that "beef--it's what's for dinner". But when the end came...WOW.I was a bit more attached then I thought I was. He was my first...

What is the going price right now for 6 month old heifers?

I just sold my 4-H steer at auction on Monday. I miss him terribly, but it was a real learning experience and I want to be in Steer Project again next year. Anyways, no one at my county fair shows breeding cattle (even though their is a catagory for it). It's just not popular. My steer...

I have chickens, a duck and a goose right now. i've been raising poultry and showing them at our county fair for five years now. After steer showmanship yesterday, I just barely had time to tie my steer up and run all the way to poultry showmanship. My steer may not be a steer after all....

He did GREAT  . Behavior wise. I got to the fairgrounds at 6:30 this morning, and we went for a walk. A looooong walk, up and down the fairway, before all the fairgoers got there or the fair opened. The vet said it was a good idea, my steer leader said I'd lose control of him and he'd...
