Yes, the inlet is a hose with a strainer. I have not figured out a solution for keeping the pipe off the bottom yet. So far, the strainer is keeping the big stuff out of the pump.

Here are a couple of calves we are weaning with nose flaps. We take them out after about 6 days and then seperate the mom and calf. So far it has worked well.

All, I am planning on using a blood based pregnancy check kit this year to check for open cows. The test I plan on using has us draw blood from the tail of the cow. The sample is then sent in. The results will come back either Yes/No as to pregnancy; it does not say how far along they are...
