That's what I had told him but I've never seen that much of it.

I'm hoping the person that sent the pics to me will fill in more information

I've seen plenty of critters go though the sale barn with RW that bad. Seems like if you got 1 like that it spreads to others like crazy. Doesn't really hurt anything, but it should be treated to keep it from going through the herd.

I've seen cattle get ring worm that bad up here in the past. THere was one steer that had blotches of ring worm all over his body, and there were LOTS of blotches, poor calf. I've seen it just as bad around the eyes like that too.

Quote from an email:

Local farmers
here in SC said they have not seen anythink like this. Our two longhorns that we
already had prior to getting the calves from Texas did not have anything like
this and still don't, only the calves that we picked up in November. In the
beginning there were 1 or 2 small spots on one of the calves heads, now there
are 3 with it, the two that I sent are the worse. We used the pour on Ivomectin
about 1 month ago, did not see any improvement.

Ring worm will go away when you get a little green grass into the animal. i quit seeing ring worm in my herd when i started using a good mineral year around..

Ivomectin won't and doesn,t claim to work on fungus.

We hadn't had any ringworm for many years. When we had it, it was just in the summer. We started with it this fall & our replacement heifers still have the same nasty dry patches. Taking forever to "run it's course". Probably the worse case we've had. Don't know if it's just the "year".

I've never seen ringworm around the eye like that, maybe it is some other form of fungus growth.

GMN

From all the rw I've seen, around the eyes is one of the most common locations.
RW tends to affect black hided cattle more than any other color. We see it in the feedlots & bull test, where all breeds are mixed.
