What about putting the toilet paper roll in backwards :x

The paper should feed over the roll, right? ;-)

It ain't a country club people, it is the house of GOD, and he loves everyone and he looks past a persons clothes and into their heart. I know what he sees in yours, and it ain't pretty.

Did your mom let you walk across her floor with muddy shoes, I would think you had to respect her and take them off. Do you think God deserves the same respect in regards to how you dress in his house? Your in church not a beer party, be nice have a beer while your at home changing for the party don't wear party clothes to church.

OK I was going to let this die, but I see a lot of you have never walked in that little kids shoes (the ones with the holes in them), or sat in his overalls (clean, but patched) while his mother and father put 10% of their gross earnings in the collection plate every sunday (if heaven forbid they had to miss a sunday they doubled it up the next week)
A lot of you were like the ones who sat in their "good" clothes and looked down on that little kid and his family.
Like the deacons that said that little kid could not be babtized in their church cause he did not have a white shirt and tie!
I could go on but if you don't get it by now you never will.

There's a front and back? Haven't been hammered for that yet!LOL. And yes if I think about it, it makes sense.

Lots of varied opinions on dressing for church. Personally I don't see a problem with jeans at church. 20 years ago if a woman wore pants to church she would have been talked about by all the old ladies. Do all you ladies wear dresses to church? It is womens apparell. I think that if you are spending your time at church evaluating others wardrobe, you went for the wrong reason anyway. Maybe we need to look at ourselves and not so much at others. It's all I can do to take care of myself and keep myself in line. Personally if someone told me not to wear jeans to church, I'd be going somewhere else next Sunday.

As a single father for many years, I raised 4 boys on my own until my wife was kind enough to marry a man with four early teen and pre teen boys. All my kids had a nice shirt and tie, as well as slacks. I did let them wear the best pair of tennis shoes they had at the time. I always made that a priority I dressed the same also. I don't mind nice jeans with a nice shirt, tie or sweater. I only made about twice min wage at the time and rented a house with a yard not an apt.

Of the kids I saw that wore rags to church mom and/or dad drove a newer car. How many of those people that wear rags to church have parents that smoke or drink or own multiple pets, all areas that seem to be more important than a families image. On the soap box now... I'm sick of people who complain about not having enough money to make ends meet or can't put clothes on the kids while they're sucking on a cig. or/and chugging a beer.

Okay off the box now... sorry... kinda,

JMO.

If you go to a church that lets little kids or old folks go without money enough to buy shoes with no holes or overalls without patches...you don't have much of a church. There are several kids our church buys clothes for and lots of families and older folks we help out with money.

Didn't mean to open a can of worms here.

Growing up we milked early on sunday so we could get to church.
We never ever thought of wearing "play clothes" to church. Mom made us dresses to wear. We went to yard sales for school clothes and church clothes. You don't have to buy all new clothes for them to be nice.
My peeve is with the kids whose families have 3 newer cars and the kids have thoes high dollar "play clothes" on.

OH, BTW, I will not be caught in a dress unless it is in church. I don't even wear slacks to church. And those that know me, know I'm a wrangler person. Except on Sunday in God's house. And that dress doesn't hardly show my ankles let alone my knees.

I always thought it was a given what was to be worn to church. Guess times are changing.

Have you ever pulled a calf in a dress?

I would barely be caught in public except at the vets and the sale barn in my "farm clothes"

There are quite a few men that wear the dress jeans all starched up and a nice button shirt and some wear suit jackets on top of that in the cold months. I've noticed it's generally the older men that wear the suits to church.

When I went to school you had to wear long pants, shirt with collar and buttons, tie shoes, socks, short hair ect. Now days they let them wear anything. I guess they are glad they even show up, never mind what they wear.I think that goes for church also.

Do we have a generation gap thing going on here? I'm too young to sound like my dad!

I think we do rather anyone thinks so or not. In my neck of the woods, we call the kids "Generation X"

No sir. I have not.

Hubby doesn't go to church with me, So I don't have to do chores on sunday mornings, he takes care of that.

No Certherfbeef, all the calves I ever pulled were naked.

No one told me that you were supposed to replace the toilet paper, let alone how it is properly done.

I lived with my mom and sister for 24 yrs and neither of them instructed me on the correct procedure for toilet paper installation. My wife on the other hand, instructed me within hours of me moving in with her, on how to correctly install the roll with the paper coming off the top. I was also potty trained (to put the lid and seat down after I'm done) at this time. :D

I have to laugh about the toilet paper as I do want the roll on the back side unrolling (against the wall), not unrolling over the front. However, being single, I get to do things the way I want.

I guess my biggest pet peeve is (while on the telephone) having to "push one for english". I live in the United States of America and the native language is english, if you want another language YOU push one.

As far as wearing dresses to church, I would rather see them come to church than to stay home because they don't like to wear dresses. They have cowboy church at the local salebarn that meets every sunday morning and thursday evening. Most of the people are in jeans.

Now I agree with that it isnt and never has been about clothing
I do agree that people should cover all the good parts up.
Church for me has never been about cloths. Its about worship, if thats lost, all the nice clothing in the world cant save you. (pun intended)
