Well I turned in a claim to my insurance, (Allstate) and they said they would settle with me and then go after Ford Motor Company. I have another truck I am driving at the moment, an '06 Silverado my FIL no longer wanted, as he had just bought an '08. I miss my Ford.
We were out feeding chickens and I heard the horn honking. Steve was burning leaves down by the road, so I thought the smoke was from him. Then I started smelling plastic. I ran to the driveway and Steve was already there. His Crossfire was sitting right next to the truck, flames pouring out the Ford, and Steve pushed his car out of the way and got the hose. It was parked right next to the house and I thought the house would catch fire, but there was no way to move the truck.
Called 911, and then Allstate to make the claim. I had just gotten a recall on it. I had heard about it, but since everything was working, I didn't really pay notice. Last week, the cruise control stopped working followed by the brake lights and signals. Had our mechanic replace a 20 amp fuse for the signals and lights, (I couldn't tell which was out and I don't have an owner's manuel :frowns: ). He advised me to get it in to the dealer. Then it caught fire the next day. It was freaky. I had gotten back from taking a kid home about an hour before.
It was freaky. While it was burning, the horn was honking and the starter was turning over, rrrr, rrrr. I thought for sure it would 'splode.
I am just glad to have something to drive. We had just sold the trusty back-up, the '83 F150.
