We've had a couple days of really hot weather... high 30's to 40+. And then it was positively freezing yesterday, and not terribly warm today either.
 
The weather has certainly been weird lately.

I heard on the news today that just 200km from the Tassie bushfires, at Mt. Wellington, I think they said, there's snow!!

I seriously don't know what's going on!

Off to work again on Thursday, then up to Gympie again sometime within the next few weeks, gotta talk to someone about a job up there.

The new bull & heifer coming in the next few weeks to work, I'll have to dig a camera up from somewhere and take pictures!
 
We got a bit last night, nothing that good though.

I'm really hoping some more will come through today/tonight, the shower we had last night greened up the place a little bit, nothing to exciting though.

Hoping there's some rain here tonight, the sky's looking a bit ominous to the west of us.

Two of my friends and I had an interview with our school Principal today, we put forward our ideas for the Ag Dept. as it isn't in the best state, and hopefully it'll be improved a bit now that we've said something. We see him early next year to sort everything out, so hopefully then it'll be full steam ahead.

The rain's gone now, but we ended up getting around an inch, not anything overly great but handy nonetheless.

We had two feral dogs chasing roos, then also, our cattle late yesterday afternoon. :mad: While this morning one German Shepherd and two Kelpies were doing the same. :mad: It's bad enough feral dogs chasing our cattle but then the neighbours' (a few properties away) pets is intolerable. :mad: Especially since they have been verbally warned before also with someone else shooting one of their German Shepherds for chasing calves. :mad:

Yesterday, one of the feral dogs took a shot due to its "soft point lead deficiency". The neighbours' dogs this morning were too quick and my eyes were still not functioning well enough to warrant safe shooting at 5.50 am. So I went on an uninvited visit with a strong warning about controlling their pets (killers). They should have grasped my legal right by now that if they let their dogs loose on our land their dogs will also no longer suffer lead deficiencies!!!

On a more peaceful note we got a pair of Pekin ducks yesterday from friends who are moving interstate. Mother duck is still sitting on 9 eggs after bumping around dirt roads for 30 minutes in a cardboard box in the back off my Landcruiser. What a good mother.

I love fried Pekin duck eggs on toast in the morning. :P
 
Mmm I love duck eggs. We have 6 indian runners but they are not laying yet. Hope you have better luck with the dog situation. Here we don't have feral dogs, at the moment there is about 15 feral sheep running around the place, going through all the fences and stirring the goats up.

Today I have been fencing, and decided to call it a day after being chased by a swarm of bees and then a brownie in the space of five minutes.

We still haven't got any of that mythical stuff called rain. Got a truck load of straw yesterday as we can't get any hay. The stock will have to eat that for a while. Meanwhile we are supplementing the goats with fruit to keep them going.

Anyway I'm off to Carols by Candlelight. If I don't post again soon, Merry Christmas everyone :D
 
Have fun at the Carol's Keren.

Been at work yesterday and today, the calves are going fairly well considering. Put the nose dogs in the 7/8 month olds for the first time today, they went really well.

And rain, we got it!!! At home there was a fair bit, not much at work though.

We had dogs at work this morning chasing one of the bulls, we didnt have a gun so I got my stockwhip out, after they heard the crack they went running.
 
Tagged a few calves yesterday and shifted a few cattle about.Have some very nice calves,many potential show ones. Had an inch of rain in the past 5 days in two falls had about 5 mls more at a couple of our other bocks.Country looks beautiful and lush here. This saddens me when so many others in our country could do with a share of our good fortune. Tallied the rain up yesterday we've had 810mls for the year so far at home,at one of our blocks 20 ks east we've had 900mls and the block to our east just 2 ks away (about 100 metres higher)we've had 840 mls and the other larger block to our north 5ks has had 800 mls. So you can see the rain is just a bit variable.
A Christmas wish, 100 mls spread over the week before the 25th for Tasmania,Victoria,Central and Southern Queensland and 93% of New South Wales and not to forget South and Western Australia.
:D Colin the eternal optimist. PS Bek might go to the Laidley Brahman Female sale at Silverdale 13th January (interested in a semen package in a couple of polled Red Brahman bulls and maybe a polled heifer or two.
 
Sounds like not a bad day.

We got a fairly good lot of rain, the paddocks are looking a bit greener today.

I was actually just talking to mum about the Laidley Brahman sale the other day, there's a fairly good chance I may be there :)
 
You know it just occurred to me that why do they call it the Laidley Brahman sales when it's at Silverdale saleyards not Laidley saleyards. Then again the Laidley saleyards aren't that inviting. Lol

What's everyone doing over the Christmas period.

Having a bit family lunch at my uncles place on Xmas day. Then on New Years Eve we're heading down to Rathdowney(near QLD/NSW border) to go camping, which will be great!
