its been hot here today as well.Maybe a storm later,there's a front to our south west where most of them come from. If they come up from the south east they are usually pretty rough with lots of rain. They come up over the side of the mountain and usually dump a fair bit of rain.
Anyway we'll see how it goes.
 
I hope it storms in the next few days, a bit of relief would be nice.

Anyone been watching the cricket, I think if we can get a wicket early tomorrow morning the game will be over by lunch.

Weather has been terribly hot... got to work on Tuesday to find out there were 21 fires in the immediate district... one was a kilometre from our southern boundary. Thank goodness it was a northerly wind or we would have been stuffed, they had 14 CFS units out but it still burnt for 5 days. There are others around the place still burning and the smoke has travelled from right down in the south east to Adelaide. More hot windy conditions today.
Poor ponies are hating this wind, not to mention the heat. I feel so sorry for them!
 
Doesn't sound to good. there's a few fires here but none that are ever threatening. Hopefully a storm will come soon, I want it to come now that the cricket's over:D
 
Cricket :roll: Hate watching it but love the atmosphere! With it being in Adelaide this weekend it's set to be a big night in town... I can't wait!! :D :D
I'm off again for the rest of the week to do an AI course which I won as a prize back in July.. handy as I want to AI my cows next month. :D

Hi all, I am also back after a brief stint looking after a property nearby. Don't get me started on the heat . . . we had 40 degrees on the weekend as well as humidity, and during this the pump decided to blow up so I was carting water :x

It is so dry here the electric fences aren't working. The young cattle and goats keep walking straight through the fences.

Killala congratulations on your new arrival. I keep meaning to post a few photos of the new foal at work, she's a sweetie.

Keren, just thought I'd remind you of the colour of living grass! ;-)

I'm sure the majority of graziers in our "wide brown land" haven't see it in a long while. It's amazing how most people are keeping on with these harsh conditions, I know many aren't. :(

Our little chlorophyll a's & chlorophyll b's, normally making the grass green here are even taking a beating from this dry and now hot weather.

Just in the last week the grass is crackling under-foot. I can't believe how dry it is here on the coast. Today the temp at 9 am was 32 deg C.

Out goes my plans of servicing the Komatsu today, I'm staying inside.

It's hot hot hot.......I feel your pain on having to cart water. At my boss's place they've got no pumps(they would except its not their property so they can't change anything) and we're up at 4.00 in the morning carting water, and not in bed til anywhere from 10.00-1.00 at night. It's not very fun to say the least.

As of Friday morning I'll be off for 3 or 4 Days. Going to my boss's place Friday night, then there's 5 of us off to Gympie on Saturday morning, to go and look at a mates cattle up there, then Aratula Rodeo that night. Then home, very tired on Sunday. A busy weekend.

Oh and DREAMWORLD tomorrow!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! I'm a bit excited, as of Friday, no more school for 8 weeks!!! That'll be good as it'll give us a chance to work with the show team.
 
Went to Toowoomba today darn hot,wished I'd stayed at home. Would probably have been a bit cooler here at home. Had a front tyre blow out,luckily on a straight stretch of road. Got a new set of tyres for the car while I was at it. Sometimes takes a little time when things get ordered in our little town. Toowoomba had them in stock so decided to get them.Got to do some cattle tieing up tomorrow. Going to have a look at some more land about 30 kilometres to our north west. $1700 an acre. A little too dear I feel for the area and the quality. There's not much about for sale at a reasonable price at the minute.
Any way I'll see how I go.

Toowoomba's either stinking hot, or freezing cold, I guess you got it on the hot day Colin.

It's really hot here, and I've never been good with the heat. Got a bit of hail around 5.30 though, cooled things down a bit.
 
Well I wont be on here til at least Sunday now. Off to work tonight, staying there then off to Gympie and Aratula(when we get back) tomorrow, and then home(finally) on Sunday.

See, or read :P everyone when I get back.
 
Temperaures here are now back down to 25 after reaching 40 last week??????? Last nite we had a thunder, lightning and wind . . . . we have been watching the progress of a bushfire a few farms away from us. It's up on a ridge and doesn't look like it plans on coming down. Don't know whether thats a good thing or a bad thing, cos while its up there its hard to put out but at least its not coming towards us. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

Spent the last few days weaning and marking kids, and thinking up names! For the bucks we've got Buckardi, Buckley and Buckaneer. Haven't thought of doe names yet. Any suggestions? (have to start with B) For hoof n hook wethers we have Boozer, Bruiser and B1 and B2.
 
Back from my course... and pretty pleased with how it went. Finished top of the class- not bad I reckon! Now just to get some practice in!
My neighbour's offered to let me practice on her Dexter's and the dairy down the road said I can do a few there too- bit of a height difference between the two!!
Little foal is doing well, and finally has a name... Grenada, or Ada for short (to go with the Caribbean islands theme- Calypso, Barbados, Jamaica etc.)
Also finally got some pics of the new cattle.. I'll upload them when I get a chance, pretty busy right now!!
