I shot one a few weeks ago. Still have the hide down in my deep freeze. Dont know what to do with it.
I didnt want the bear but it was a nucense so I ended up shooting it.
Taxidermest told me about $1000 for a rug or about $800 for a head mount.
I dont really have the wall space and there is no way im spending that much.
Took it to the Hutterites but apparently the government shut down their tannery three years ago.
Years ago when I was a kid I used to tan. But its a lot of friggen around. I dont have a spot big enough to do it inside and I couldnt keep the animals away from it outside. But if your determined to do it yourself your local trapping association could either sell you the stuff or tell you where you can get the stuff to tan it yourself.
