I was building some pens this weekend in preparation for taking some calves, and a cow with a blown udder to the market, and as I was driving out, I thought I would grab a few photos with my cell phone. These are commercial limis that I bought this past Fall from my Dad. They are strictly on bahia and mineral blocks this Summer, and wintered (sounds funny coming from a Floridian) on Prine Rye and mineral. The Prine rye actually lasted a few weeks into June, though I moved them to bahia at the end of May... I also have a small herd of registered Simmis too, which I keep here at my house. Feel free to comment or critique...
Heifer (she's standing on a slight decline...not built downhill...LOL)
This cow is on the cull list with a blown udder. It's too bad because she throws a great calf. Her calf will be heading to the sale barn too.
These are a few cows/heifers enjoying the shade...it's HOT
a few more cows/heifers...
and a nice cow and heifer, though not related...
