sold 10 calves today, average weight 400#. was blown away by the price

7 steers $2.18 / lb
4 heifers $1.83/ lb

Man maybe I should have drove up to belton. I hauled mine to raywood from what I heard prices hadn't changed much. I dropped off a couple 500 lb calves. I oughta get the check in the mail today.

Calves sold at Capitol Land and Livestock (Schwertner's). I think its much better than the auction. Just load up the calves, drive 20 miles, weigh and get an offer. Get paid 20 minutes later. Couple years ago dad took a load of calves to Milano auction and a load of calves to Schwertner's. Price was pretty much identical when transportation and fees were included.

just got back from the sale.. they didn't want smaller calve at all. 400 # going for 1.20 - 1.30

I want some of those also. Lots of KY and VA the snow is still too deep to get any hauled.

mt sterling. I looked at the sales report and it said up to 1.86. Complete BS. I watched 300 sell (all really good lookin cattle btw).. quite a few lightweights. I saw a few go for 1.58, but none higher. awful lot going for 1.20 - 1.40.. I was pretty surprised. I saw an extremely good looking charolais go for 1.20 and any "fat" 4 weights where around the same price.

Well got my check today. Realy dissapointed.....
avg wt. 565 lb
avg per pound 135.29

Tell us about your calves Mike.

All were bwf bull calves except 1 was all black. They are out of a registered angus bull on hereford/brangus cows. They seemed to be pretty average except the all black one seemed to be a little thicker.

They were all born late around July so I figured I'd hold on to em till spring maybe keep em as long as i had grass and theyd eat for free but a buddy of mine who is a full time rancher for a living said he'd sell em now before prices got any lower and not have to hay em the rest of the winter.
