Worked, weaned and sold

We wormed cows that needed it, castrated and vaccinated young calves, weaned 16 big calves, sold six cows and 5 calves off heifers.
One steer 230-$4.05 lb
4 heifers ave 257-3.16
One was a Hereford x yellow heifer weighed 260 brought 3.31 the other calves were black.
Cows averaged $1,306.00
Highest was a black cow bred $1,850
Cheapest cow was $925
All were bred but one.

Really surprised me, those calves weren't the best for sure.
That yellow heifer brought more than the solid black and ones.

The calves off the heifers were late summer early fall if I remember right.

So four/five months?

I guess where I'm going is if they are light for days, why didn't you haul the heifers to the sale barn? If you think they are heavy enough for their age the question is moot.

We have them sold private treaty

We bought the heifers bred, they have nice utters but calves didn't do as well as I expected.
We bought 6 black, and one red on a different deal, the buyer wants all seven.
