Always keeping an eye out for silent auction donation ideas for youth groups, etc. Mainly for cattle related functions. Any ideas or things you have seen that were big hits or things that you would mention as being a neat idea?

Our 4-H always raffles off a gun. Recent silent auctions items around here have been:
Local guy that has a plane donates his time & takes the winner on a ride with aerial pics, etc.
Packing plant donates a case of meat
Rubbermaid plant donates coolers, whatever
Winery donates a case of wine & dinner/wine tasting
Huskey Liners donates mats (you provide vehicle info & they customize)
Kayaks for river runs (it's actually a landscaping business that provides them)
Prairie Land Partners - John Deere t-shirts, cups, hats, etc (and same w/the Kubota dealer)
Turkey hunts
Home On The Range donates a concealed carry class
And small local businesses always have items

And BTW, not a silent auction but one of our biggest fund raisers was the Big Bucks Bull Drop. A $20 "donation"/buy a square for a chance to win $5K or you could buy half a square for $10 to win $2500 - the charity got the other half of the winnings. We let a bull (some years 2 bulls) in an arena, created a grid and whichever square he poops in is the winner. If he poops in more than one square the poop is weighed and the square with the highest quantity is the winner. Heckling and coaxing by the crowd is encouraged. A couple of years we did it in conjunction with the 4-H calf fry - because who wouldn't want to eat a plate of fried 'nads and watch a bull poop? ;-) :D

I was thinking about a custom made branding iron as being something unique and different but I don't know if people who don't brand would be interested in it just for the novelty or not. Don't know if it would appeal to everyone.
