Semen/Embryos to Canada

Anyone know if we can import semen from the US into Canada right now? I know how the permitting and reg's work, just hadn't heard if it was actually ALLOWED.

As long as the semen is cleared for export to Canada.

If the bull is collected CSS and tested for the Canadian export the semen can then be sold into Canada.

Many, many strict rules for importation . Contact a local supplier and they usually can grab semen from other suppliers for you as well, as long as it is cleared all regs for Canada. In Alberta try westgen, abs and universal . For embryos contact your breed association that represents the breed choice of said embryo.

We checked on exporting embryos to both Canada and Central America earlier this year. As long as the embryos were conceived with CSS semen they were good to go. Check with your embryologist (ET people) as they will know more about the regulations.

It is allowed. However, after you find the semen you want, even if you are told it is exportable to Canada make a quick call to the society and make sure the calves will be able to be registered.
