I was wondeing if anyone had any suggestions on how to rig my squeeze chute up to trim cow's feet safely.

We have just sqeezed them real tight and used a thick cotton rope around the ankle part and threw it over the top of the chute and fastened it with running halfhitches.

Same here. I want to eventually make a sling with belting that can be put at either the front or back to hold the weight of the animal so they don't thrash as much. I've got the 20 inch belting to do it, just not the time. Until that time, when doing a back leg, I slide a 2" diameter pipe under their flank to help carry the load.

The few times we've had to work on feet it made me really glad that I trained the oxen from the time I started working them (2 days old) to stand on 3 legs and let me mess with their feet like you would train a horse.
