Slipped the main bearing(I think) in a JD 4440 (1981) model (dont know serial#) this morning. I need to know a good place to find a rebuilt engine. My internet search has come up almost empty. I only found one place other than JD and I dont know where they are located. Help with locating an engine would be appreciated.

Hello JS,

Sorry to hear about your engine problems. I have purchased a lot of rebuilt parts from Abilene Machine in Abilene Kansas. I know they have other locations as well. Freight was reasonable and prices as good as any I found.

Here is the link to their website.

I've had good luck with these guys as well:

They also have several salvage yards around the country and deal in both used and rebuilt parts.

They have an online catalog where you can put in the make and model of your tractor and select the engine catagory and it gives lots of options. I noticed for a rebuilt 466 they want $10,000. But for a reman block, is $1350. They also sell bearing kits and pretty much any piece you might need.
