people need to grow up and quit being offended so easy. If someone tells you to pizz off or KMA or calls you an A$$hole so what , Does it have any bearing on what you do?? does it change your life?? the answer is NO and if it does you have problems beyond that. the todays men are nothing but a bunch of Pu$$ys .

I agree Darryl:

I think what many on here are concerned about are exposing the youngsters who come here to bad behavior, foul language and sexual content. Never mind that kids today have already watched more porn on the Internet than you and I have seen in our entire lives.

Let's use Inyati as an example. Yes, he was a legend. Yes, he was a genius. Yes, he was educated. But he was a horrible example.

I think TexasBred is a fine man. And I know he can take his verbal lickins but that language is a bad influence on us all.

have you not heard the lyrics to the music these kids listen too. Unless you keep them locked in a closest they hear far worse in school.

Is that who WE are?

I like a little salt, but too much spoils the dish.

Don't go to bragging on TB take me a week or two to get him lined out again.
As my old dad used to say son it is easier to plow the field when you have the mules attention hickory works best.

Neighbor had a big sorrel gelding. Could not break him. Dad hooked him up to Bunny, our best Belgium mare. Dad was trying to get them to back a wagon. The gelding just stood there fighting the bit. Dad handed the check lines to Henry. He said you pull until that SOB backs up. Dad picked up a Pine 2x4, stood in front of the gelding, struck him a blow across the nose. It cracked like a shotgun. He yelled, "Back you SOB, back. GD you, you better back up." The gelding was confused. He started to jump forward. Henry laid into him with the bit. Crack. Dad hit him between the eyes. Blood was foaming from his nostrils. Finally, he started backing up. Dad said, "BG, you better back up."

Dad was 5' 11". But the hardest strongest man for his size I ever saw. His temper was legendary as was his toughness. Not making this up. Truth. I always did what he said. I would have hated to try to fight him. When Henry got back from Vietnam, he and dad got into a scrape. They squared off in the yard but mom came out yelling if You hit him Bob, it will be the last thing you ever do.

Yes. I find it disgusting to see a 10 year old saying things like, "Suck this" and pointing to their crotch. Makes me want to slap the shyt out of them. They hear that crap in their lyrics.

Amazing how different people see things differently. My dad left home for good when he was 14 years old because of his dad beating the plow mule. They eventually reconciled but it was many years later. But I agree 100% about that slick dude Inyati. Never could figure him out. Good riddance.

TB, I cringed at the way my dad treated animals. First, let me be clear: I loved my dad and I miss him every day of my remaining life. But I am very different than my dad. I treat my dogs and cattle like royalty. I detested the way he hit animals. I guess he saw them as property. I see them as living sensitive beings not unlike humans. I admit, I hunted for sport and continue to support sport hunting but if you are responsible for an animal, then treat it with a conscience.

A name has never made me cry. But I have a problem with the stereotypes that are attached to the names.

The labels are attached to personas that are repeated over and over by hollyweird. The southerner and the rural person with a drawl is always kinda dumb. When you see something over and over, you come to expect it. Realizing it or not. Your brain gets trained. It sure seems like a purposeful attempt to marginalize middle America. America that still has traditional values. Label them ignorant and archaic so that their voice in the discussion is cut off before they even speak.

Rural middle America feeds the urban crowds. What is far from appreciated is that we are not just the ones that are feeding them, but we are guaranteeing their national security by producing this secure food source. People just don't understand how big of a national threat not being self sufficient with food is. It's being done at a pace that far exceeds the rest of the world. Our military power is a major part of our national security. Our self produced food source is another.

The traditional values of these hard working people are what provides for that. To marginalize those values and the voice of those people by associating them so strongly with ignorance is wrong, very wrong.

Thank you Commercial Farmer, you put into words my feelings on this subject.

Billy Carter (Jimmy's brother) explained it. A redneck throws his beer cans out on the road. A "good ole boy" throws them in his truck bed.

Yes. Mom was right:

In Kentucky, my mom always said we was hillbillies. Not Rednecks. She said Rednecks were rude and ill-mannered. So she didn't like people calling us rednecks.

Redneck is a term we are all not going to agree on. What we must strive for is accepting the other user's definition. As Grit stated so eloquently, he is proud of his Redneck title because it means something different to him. Same can be said for the fine fisherman from the Great State of Texas, Fence.

In Kentucky, the term Hillbilly is more apropos than Redneck. Personally, I am not offended with either term. My mother came from a long line of hillbillies. As Fence pointed out, the hillbillies make moonshine, drink their liquor from a fruit jar, and fornicate. Rednecks, I think probably inbreed more than hillbillies. At least, that seems to be the case here in this county.

Where my people are from the most derogatory term used was "lint head" meaning you or your family worked in a textile mill and subsided well below the poverty line living in a "mill house" and buying most of your wares at a mill owned store.

Alas the mills are almost all gone now.

Forget about that, what happened in the Bama game, playing A&M, right?

All I got here in the Wilderness is Rabbit Ears. I watch movies, that is about it. I just bought the original version of the Magnificent Seven. Going to turn on the TV and see if my Rabbit Ears can pick up the game.
