Must Use a Tank Float That Mounts Under Water Line

I am going to have to use a water valve on a tank that has a sloping side, so it will not let the float drop down with the water level.

What is the most reliable valve that any of you have found to work? I have ways of keeping the stock off of the balls or what ever it may be. It is a 300 gallon tank, so they will have plenty of room to drink without having to fight to get to the water and avoiding electricity.

Just use a regular ball type system but with the ball on a small chain so that it floats above where the fill line is at.
