Ok so lime is going down but I have been wondering about using limestone sand for some time. Our soil has a considerable amount of shale. I had 40 acres of timber cut 10 years ago on another parcel I own. The logger used 3/4 (#57s) limestone gravel. Grass and clover grows well in these areas.
What if I was to spread limestone sand instead of normal lime. Would it tend to stay longer and make for more availble soil ammendment.
