What gives you the best results? I have read the best results come from mowing every 4 weeks to stress the plant. Then spray a month before frost. I have a 6 pasture rotation. To mow every month I would cut a lot of grass that will likely be needed later. On the other hand if its not mowed it'll go to seed and be a bigger issue. What methods does everyone take?

not familiar with sand briars. we have what we call greenbriar which is smilax i believe, but it doesn't have seeds that i know of.

if it's an annual you could spray a pre-emergent before the seeds germinate.

have you got a picture of what you have?

Horse nettle is the proper name.
As long as I can remember everyone around here has called them sandbriers

looks like grazon pd could be used for control. savvy not wanting to mow forage for the cows. we have some of this plant around here but not to bad, but we spray grazon pd in the spring. didn't realize the berries are toxic.

Is this what you are calling grass briers? If so use GrazonNext, mowing is not effective.. You are too late this year but start in late spring or early summer.

That looks like what I have. I'll spray it next summer. I hate those things. Thanks for the help
