I'm needing a few registered horned Hereford heifers, I would take open or bred heifers or might also be interested in some older cows. I've been looking hard for a couple weeks and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Lots of people with Herefords have started registering them with no epd's and I don't know that I want to start a registered herd with no EPDs in case I want to sell someone a bull later on. I know EPDs aren't perfect, personally I wouldn't care that much, but to start this deal I feel like I should buy some that have them. if anyone has or knows of anything like that I would sure be interested, thanks.

Have you looked on cattle range? I don't know exactly what you are interested in buying but it is a place to start.

Yes, I check cattle range nearly every day and most of the craigslist sites within about 500 miles.

They're a little farther than 500 miles from you, but from the catalogs I've seen before they seem to have some nice cattle. I know you buy cattle from TN sometimes. They might not be a bad drive from the markets you go to.

Yes, tried them also. They have really good Herefords, I just can't afford them.

If you find some in the Eastern SD, MN, or IA I can probably get them hauled your direction pretty reasonable. I can at least get them to Dickson.

How about Ned jr.? Or maybe the Dewall's? I have a bad case of CRS, but they had some fine looking horned Herefords.

Deewall's were my first choice, they have some of the best in my opinion. They only sell a small handful every year, they sold 10 this year and I just missed them.

I wasn't sure of the folks names, but I knew there cattle were top notch. I'm glad your back posting a little. Your a wrath of knowledge, young man.

Well I feel like a jackass. Of course Ned Jr has some great horned herfs. He lives less than an hour from me....what a dork!

Ok, I'll check with him. The other people you mentioned don't have any right now. Thanks for helping though.

Talked to that guy on the phone today, he isn't selling any of his registered heifers right now. He also re assured me of how hard it's going to be for me to find any.

Tim is right, good heifers are still bringing good prices if you can even find them.

The Burns sale has $1,000-$2,000 heifers, but you are not getting the same quality

Does it have to be heifers? I saw some nice bred reg horned hereford cows on cattle range.

No, it could be cows. They do have to be registered. I hadn't seen any on there, but it's been about 3 days since I looked. Thanks.

I know a guy that sells registered horned Hereford bulls but he generally keeps the heifers. It's probably less than 300 miles from you; I could ask if he has any & wants to sell if you're interested.
