We have fed out both steers and heifers for freezer beef and have not seen much difference in the beef quality. We also see very little difference in feed efficiency or daily gain. Has anyone else experienced this? Can you tell the difference in beef from a steer and heifer?

They will generally finish at a lower weight and have a smaller ribeye. This doesn't affect carcass quality as much as size of carcass.
