gun bore sighter

I use a cardboard box and a door knob. I cut two V's in the cardboard box and set the gun into the V's . Remove the bolt and look down the barrel. Align a door knob, or other similar size object so that it is exactly in the center of the barrel. Then move cross hairs left or right until they lign up on the door knob. Only works on bolt action. Has saved me some bullets when unable to get back to town for bore sighting.

What distance between the gun and the door knob do you use?

I try to get 10 feet or so.
