Grass in East Tx

I'm in east Texas in the piney woods. I have a small place. 8 acres and just starting out. We have about 3 acres of pasture and the rest is woods we are trying to make into servo pasture. What are the grasses that do best for these areas and should we lime?

Pensacola Bahia and yes to lime.

What CB said. You could try planting bermuda, or maybe kleingrass, but bahia will probably take over anyway, so why fight it?

If he'll wait a couple of years he'll have a volunteer crop of bahia free.

Silvo pasture? You mean just turning them loose in the woods.
Yaupon will work for that, especially in winter. ;-)
