Did down a few inches and fill it up with gravel. We do that around our waterers.
Around here, that won't last 1/2 a season. Just disappears, without fabric.
Last year, I had a whole truck load of gravel dumped in a wet hole in our laneway getting ready for a meeting/picnic. Gone before fall. Right now, you can get lost in the hole. Didn't take the time to put fabric down. :bang:
Same here. We build a box and put gravel in it. Last us about two years and we have to start over. But it's nice while it lasts

Question for the ones with experience with fabric. My driveway is dirt. It has ruts. Not wallowed out or sloppy wet but the tire ruts are lower than the middle of the driveway.

1) If I put down fabric and then rocks, (should I decide to come back later and pave with concrete or asphalt) will this be a hindrance or would it be a good base?

2) Should I take a box blade and level it before putting down the fabric?

#1 Yes, if it's an aggregate that compacts well and it's put on in a thick enough layer. Round un fractured rock is a bad idea.

#2 Yes
