Galloway and West Highland Cattle

Is there any speculation about a possible relationship between these two breeds. In about 1865 John Sibbald ran Scotch breeds on this ranch (Rockpile)in Geyserville CA. There is reference to West Highland and a creek named Galloway here. Ideas? Thanks Rod Park
