Fracking shale oil is the driving force. Come on now, I figured it was ethanol, or them wind mills.
How low do you think fuel would go with the government's help? All the dumbocrats and their leader, are trying to make it as tough as possible for the fuel companies. Do away with the EPA and fuel would be cheap and the vehicles would get twice the mi  leage also.
And all these years Pelosi, Reed, et al have been telling us big oil was keeping those prices high all this time. Wonder why big oil has let it fall so far.

Why has gas fallen so far and the cheapest fuel to produce, diesel has a higher price compared to gas than it usually is?

Because it's not as cheap when every refinery in the United States was required to spend money on Hydro treaters, desulferizers and sulfur recovery systems during the clean fuel act era of Clinton. They are still having to spend millions of dollars on R&D to meet the growing standards. I'm not saying the clean fuels act was wrong, just saying we have to pay for it. In Clinton's behalf it was coming know matter who was president.
