fel hay spear

Help Support CattleToday:

Put 2 on my FIL FEL bucket about 5 or 6 years ago. Got them from rural king. King kutters maybe??? I cut the 2 short spears off that are on either side of the main spear, so now he just has 2 large spears attached to the bucket. He loves it and it works well since he doesnt have any quick attach features on his FEL.

It puts the bale out further in front and makes the load a little more unstable because of this. Okay on a large tractor, not so much on a 60HP.

Just have a shop make up a simple box frame and attach the spear and your desired quick attachment links to it.

Here are the links to the highest quality parts I can source and that I use on this place. You won't bend that spear and I can't find one with a higher rating that doesn't cost 1/2 a calf.

The euro QA hooks I used on my FEL forks and they are far better than OEM - :us:plus made with pride by small shop in Minnesota.:us:

So for $250 US, you can have a start of a spear better than anything you can buy at the JD dealer, I guarantee that.

thanks everyone for the replies. Cowrancher, i know it might tear up the bucket but at a minimal cost i can try it. once it fails I can bite the bullet and switch it to a quick attack system.. i only have a couple hundred bales to store so not much useage yearly.

anyone use a pin on bucket hay spear. what brand do you consider the best.
What is the model number and brand of the loader your are planning to use this on and what tractor.

With a couple pieces of angle bolted to my bucket, plus a little welding and a top link, I can mount my 3pt spear that I already have to my bucket. Been using it several years now. Not ideal and I plan to have a fork mounted spear soon, but it works and didn't cost a thing.

My main tractor has the Euro QA system. It is getting harder to find FIL implements that use this. I am hesitant to purchase too much because my next tractor will have the Quick Attach instead.

Just torch off the hooks and weld on the quick attach plates when it comes to that point.

I use one sometimes but :
1 / Goes in a bucket on a Case 580B backhoe.

2/Does put weight out further.

3/Harder to judge where your spear is

4/Can't get in a tight area

I still like having it and use it to load hay out a field onto a truck or trailer.

Granted the euro style is a Little slower swapping attachments but it is super strong. I have snatched attachments off the front of my skid steers more times than I care to remember.

Is this for your Kubota? If so. I was able to buy a Kubota quick attach hitch for my M4900/LA1002 loader for $600 - cut the pin brackets off my bucket - added a quick attach plate ($150) to my bucket and I'm in high cotton now. Prices are for parts only - fab work was $400.

I still have all the vendor info.
