We have 2 show heifers who are bred and will calve just before our County show. Does anyone have any experience with feeding through this phase? We don't want to have calving problems and have heard that over-feeding in the last month or so prior to calving could create a calving problem due to size of calf.

My suggestion is to keep the cows on whatever feed or pasture you have them on now. I wouldn't do too much of a change in your feeding program. Maybe alittle extra protein or corn, but otherwise they will be fine as is.

I agree but maybe cut the amount down some in the last month or six weeks...1/4 less or so and increase the hay to keep them satisfied

Keep them out on pasture if that is where they already are, if you are feeding them I would feed them a good grass hay and no grain for the last couple months.
