Well, he may have. I have a dog named Special K. She was a slim stray when she found me. Didn't take long to figure out she's a bit short on the uptake, but she knows how to eat. "Portly, lazy, and ungrateful" is an oft used phrase to describe her.
Maybe she got back down to "market weight" as an old attorney I knew used to say.

She left me because I was always at work when she treed. I got to keep the pup; he's grown into a champ. She only howls at me when she needs feed, or needs help managing her fleas.
So, yeah, I'm a fortunate man that can look back and realize when she dug under the fence, that was a watershed moment for me and the pup, and we were able to keep a much cleaner pen after she became a stray, again.
