They usually remove the legs and ham, leaving the belly, ribs and loin as 'a whole side' since the hams (butt and shank) would usually be smoked or cured separately.

Had a student that had a partial , his upper 4 front teeth . Got knocked out in a car wreck . Took them out to eat lunch at school , laid them on his plate and carried it up and dumped his plate in the hole at the lunch room counter . Beneath the hole was a slop bucket or a garbage can . We went back to class after lunch , when all of a sudden he jumped up and ran out the door saying my teeth , my teeth . Went through every garbage bag and slop bucket from the lunchroom that day but never found his partial !
