Boy there has been alot of posts in this regard. Glad at least someone agreed about the slander and libel thing.
The slander and liabel is a bunch of hogwash. It's not like anyone knows your real name, and is defaming you as "John Smith" or "Joan Smith" I believe that if you want to tell someone they're wrong, in a stand to be corrected way, it's your right. Most people have "Ficticious" names. That's part of the problem with our Country today, with all the threats of legal action. Whatever happened to a good ol' fashion debate? And one other thing...When someome new comes on here like a Bull in a China shop saying they have this, and have that,it means nothing to most of us folks here in the country. It just displays a level of arrogance by the poster. This is a pretty close on-line community, who IMHO, does not have a lot of braggers, and show-boaters.Most here dont brag about herd sizes, acreage owned, barn sizes, etc. Envy is a bad thing, if you work hard, you'll get what you want most of the time. Just my 2 cents worth.

Well put. I can see how some people might see it as bragging. I say its not. If you are proud of what you have worked hard to attain and achieve then by all means share it with everyone. I like to hear other people talk about things they have and what they have done to be successful.
I get a lot of compliments on my places. BUT I'm not about to post pictures of every piece of equipment, every barn, every cow, calf, roll of hay, ex-girlfriend, whatever. These boards are not about keeping up with the Jones's, it's about sharing expertise and opinions on Cattle.TCM, I'm glad you have all the bells and whistles, if it makes you happy go for it. I got what I have the old fashion way. No inheritance, no rich Uncle Cletus, handing me money. It's all been from hard work.Just like the song says,"You do your thing, I'll do mine"

I hear you on that. I didnt have no ritch relatives to get me anything either. On the contrary. I have a general contracters license and have a team of builders that build houses for me. There is pretty good income there. Then I have a masters degree in engineering and work for Bechtel Jacobs as a safety engineer. That doesnt exactly pay minimum wage if ya catch my drift. Back in the 70s i was a school teacher. There was no money in it so I quit and then was a security guard for tva for a while and there was no money there so I went back to school got my masters degree and became an engineer. Finally I made enough money to live comfortably

I also have an Electrical contracting license and Engineering degree, I just have never saw a need to mention it until now. Several people here on this board also have advanced degrees. That don't make us a better cattleman than anyone else. I can design a chute to hold cattle but I'm not nearly as sharp as what to do with it once its caught as others here. The ones that came from the school of hard knocks are the ones that have the most respect from me. Its those guys and gals that have been working cattle all their lives that I lean my ears a little closer when they speak. There are also some young ones here that are far more than half my age, that are much better cattle handlers than I. I know several here that seem like personal friends, even though I have never met them. I feel confident that if I was in their neck of the woods and needed help I could depend on them. That also goes both ways, there are a lot on here that I would go out of my way to help out. I have been around cattle most of my life, but I have learned a lot from this group. This is byfar the most "educated" bunch of folks about cattle I have been associated with.

Being a highschool drop out sure must put me at a disadvantage in such elite company

With the variety of people that participate from youngsters to those that are in the crone and foggie class and everything inbetween, if it's kept to what you would say to somebodys grandmother on the church steps, things should be smooth

That's one of the most intelligent things I've heard on this board. It is a good way to live life in general.

Let's just keep it clean and fun. If the guy is a toad, consider the source and let it slide. Life's too short to let some moron
work you into a tither.

Crowder, some of us would kinda like to see the pictures of your old girlfriends.
I was thinking the same thing Baron. Maybe pictures of his new ones as an added attraction.
I married my last one several years ago. She'd skin me alive. BUT, I'll see what I can conjure up...

ThreeT--------> uneducated idiot whos Grandmama got cussed out on the church steps every Sunday, who would like to have a cow meetin with Caustic,Crowder,Dun and Ollie! (don't ask why, just find them to be interesting Cowboys) Aero might be ask to sit in but he'd be to busy gettin all learned up!

I would hate to see anything happen to these boards. I am on another Q & A board that is for farriers and let me tell you there is hardly any action on it. I have only asked a couple of questions and it has taken days before I can get a response. All have been helpful on here and even though sometimes someone might rib you or even talk down to you like you don't have a clue, you have to take it for what it's worth and go with it. I've had times that I wanted to fire back and have maybe a time or two but I will keep from it if thats what it takes for me to stay on here and keep these boards running.

Thanks everyone, J

Now son I don't know what neck of the woods you are from, but this fellow cussin out some little blue haired old lady. Whoa Buddy Church or not. We would have to go out back and have a come to Jesus meeting until this fellow seen the error of his ways. That is just not tolerated in my neck of the woods our ladies are treated with the respect they deserve. Might be one of them Southern things.

I'm ready for that Meeting. Caustic's on his way to pick me up. I'm going to ask him to let me drive, when he gets here.I get real nervous as a passenger. Then we will pick the other Boys up.

If we are going to have a big ole' fancy meeting I guess I need to shave , get a hair cut and wash my long handles.
