Creep feeding - How much is too much?

Coming out winter and into spring, I'm running short on grass and hay. Some of the cows snd calves are looking a little light.

I'm considering creep feeding the calves to take some pressure off the mommas.

- What type of supplemental feed should I provide?
- How much should I provide?
- Should I keep the feeder full?

Wean the calves if they are 4 months old or older. Will save a lot of pasture and condition on cows - if you have hay to feed the calves.

If you can limit them to 1% of their body weight of a 12 to 14% protein pellet type creep feed they will do very well without getting to fat. IMO more than that it gets to expensive and the calves get to full to where they will be discounted once you do sell them. As much as they are bringing right now, selling is not a bad option if over 350 lbs.
