Champion Hill Dispersal

Help Support CattleToday:

Gizmom, we walk a lonely road where one wrong step sends you tumbling down into a ravine of debt or worse. An entire segment of our economy makes a living portraying cattle and cattlemen as evil. What I am encountering these days is the old timers are selling off everything to avoid headaches about who is going to take care of what when their time comes. Lotta people just want the cash and could care less about the family farm.

Sometimes dispersal are not what they seem, one big breeder here had 3 dispersal's in a row, still in business today. First 2 were partnership splits so they bought anything they wanted back, left the rest for anybody willing to bid, third yr sold rest of not wanted, Deffinetly going out leaving anything left to daughter, still having a sale every yr, what a joke. Not saying Champion hill is doing that but it happens alot.

Pretty astute observation when a major show herd sells out when prices are the lowest. Not a lot of reason in any of those points. I never thought show cattle helped the breed progress. Neither does any of the other extreme segments of the breed. No wonder folks are always seeking correction.

Some people thrive on the misery of their fellow men. It's better for all of us to have a diverse and vigorous cattle economy.
