Doesn't always work. After I signed up I would still get calls. I would just tell them I was on the list and the number of calls decreased by about 95%.
Still get the odd one now and then.

Ask them what company they represent then ask them if they know the penalty for calling someone on the no call list. Have the phone away from your ear when you do because the click as the break the connection can be pretty loud
 
We had that email sent to us about 2 years ago....and it wasn't true then, so it still probably isn't. We all called it anyway, it doesn't hurt to do it.
 
It really worked for us. People that called you before (NRA, Feature Films For Families) are allowed to continue to call. No one new is supposed to pick you up though. I thought it worked great.
 
Wonder if this would work at my office. I get so sick and tired of people trying to give me a credit card.
