i am tring to find out which is the best brood cow and what makes a good brood cow for my part of the country wich is ky. i hear about gelbvieh, braunvieh, simm, beefmasters and even salers being good mammas and all them crossed with black angus makes a good mamma cow. wich one stands out from the others and why. what is a good size for a brood cow. and if the cow is breeding back how much is to much milk. thanks for all replies

Gelbviehs because they milk good and are very hearty. They cross very well with Angus. The calves will have a higher weaning weight which means more money in your pocket.

My pick out of these would be gelbvieh or braunvieh crosed with a Black or Red Angus bull.
