It all sounds to absolute to me. Some cows are not intended to be sold for hamburger here but they bring more money that way because they can be certified black. If someone happens to buy one of these for commercial reasons, how do you know? Tags on front and back don't last long :D
They can buy all the culls they want the owner of the salebarn likes doing business this way. He has said it makes for better businees if you didn't want to spend the money for the preg check and mouthing don't complain she is in the kill pen. Same goes for someone who buys from the kill pen they know better than to complain when they buy a broken mouth, open cow who no longer cycles. He will not stand behind the sale. We have honest customer friendly sale barns in the north. Our sales are run far differently than those in the south. It may seem absolute, maybe it is for certain, but nobody is left with questions on either side of the gavel.

It doesn't sound any different at all. Unless of course people are clueless as to what is a canner/cutter versus an SS that might be good for 5 more calves.

You don't have to have a cow preg checked here. If you do, she may still go for slaughter. It is up to the buyer.

People can ask anything. Sometimes the ringman will ask the audience, "Is there anyone here who can speak for this cow?" Sometimes people do speak. Sometimes the just wave it off. Sometimes they bring up papers on registered animals.

If you don't know what you are doing, you could make a mistake. There or here.

Everywhere is different, this just speeds the sale along, no sense in trying to sell a cull as a solid mouthed breedable cow when she isn't. If someone still wants to buy the cow to take home, thats fine bid against the slaughter buyers. Here the slaughter buyers will not stick around to the end of the sale in hopes of getting a deal buying breeding stock. Sellers know that, and they also know if they have a quality cow or not. A cull cow going thru the ring as breeding stock will usually bring far less than she would have earlier in the day as a cull when slaughter buyers were still there.
