Alfalfa Cubes for cows? Hay is in short supply here in Oklahoma.

Hay is in very short supply here in Oklahoma. Normally $35 4X5 round bales are $165. It's killing us. A lot of producers have sold or reduced their herds. We can't. It's taken 20 years to build these genetics. We are going to supplement our cows with Alfalfa Cubes with regular hay (and usual supplements). How many pounds do you recommend daily? Any additional thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.

Probably depends on what the cows are doing. Just maintaining, late gestation, raising a calf?
Five pounds per hd per day would be a good starting point.

They seem really high maybe not in bulk. What about flushing few the best cows to save the genetics.
