For those of you that AI, what is the most cows and/or heifers you have bred in one day? Just curious.

Biggest day on this place was around 80 - give or take.

Many years ago I bred an entire herd of Ankinas, don;t recall the number but it was well over 50. A couple of years ago I bred 41 head in an assemblyline process. Needed arm viagra by the time I was done, my arm isn;t as young as it used to be.

I know what you mean - we had three techs going strong and about 10 folks running them through.

About 7 or 8 years ago. 3 other technicians and myself did 600+ one day and then did them all again the next. It was a time breeding job. Every heifer was given their proper shots to get them to come around then we time bred everything, and then did it again 24 hours later. When we weren't actually AI'ing them, we were loading the guns for the other 2 technicians. We had a double alleyway and 2 AI cages. It was quite the experience. We did have another team outback bringing them to us too.

My arm went numb trying to get thru 1 cow, after you thaw $300 semen you keep on trying.

Not as well as if you would have taken the time and heat detected. If I remember right, they got around 55% to 60% conception rate. It was good for him because we did it in 2 days. If you were to watch for heat, it would have taken 7 to 10 days. Labor cheapened it up for him. But then again, he spent double on semen. Not really a way I would want to do it for my own animals. But as far as actual breeding them, it went great. They had a great set-up and it went smoothly. Just 4 darn tired cowboys when we were done.
