We've been pretty busy calving the last few weeks. We are pretty much done the first cycle. Last week we had a visitor, and it was great to meet someone from off of these boards again. Milkmaid came up for a visit and to see how we do things here. It was great to have her, I know I learned a lot from her and I think she had a pretty great experience.

Here's a few photos from the last week.

We did a bit of riding

And some walking

And took some photos

And here's some photos of the cattle.

Love the pictures, Randi!

I had a great time at the ranch. Definitely enjoyed getting to come up and visit, thanks for having me and glad the trip was beneficial for you as well. Enjoyed getting to meet you and your family and see a bit of Canada over spring break. :)

Wow really neat pictures! Yes, it makes me also want a better camera! You have the coolest marked calves, I just love um!

Very nice.. That brocklefaced black cow sure passed it on to her calf!, and to me she looks mean, but that's just because I have one with pretty much identical speckles, and she's a bit mean.

Thanks everyone. We had a great time. DH enjoyed sleeping all night for a couple nights. But maybe he should have stayed in routine (he was sick for the last 3 days) lol.

A good camera helps, but even a point and shoot can take pretty good pictures. Good lighting, patience and quiet cows help a lot!

Branguscowgirl, just add a bit of shorthorn and you'll get some neat markings, lol....

Nesi, that Black Brockle faced cow is pretty quiet. Not the quietest one in the herd, but not mean either.

Great pictures and looks like good weather for it, but I see you 2 wearing the coats so guess it wasn't as warm as it appears. Beautiful calves!!
#194 caught my eye--just has that "don't mess with me" attitude look. (I'm always partial to red calves tho)

The tall fence behind the horses--for a wind--snow break?

It was actually rather cool that day. It had been pretty nice all week but cooled off at the end. But still right around freezing I think, just a bit windy and rainy/snowy at times.

Yeah, she sort of has a 'I dare you' look in her eye doesn't she.

The tall fence is a wind break, we need it in this country...lol

Great photos as others have said. What I love is the eye contact. You've really captured that curiosity that little calves have.

Andrew

Beautiful pictures. Good looking cattle as always. That's a great lay of land. I don't think there's that much level land in this whole county.

fitz

Great pictures and cattle as always. I have to wonder about a college student who goes north to look at cattle over spring break..... Milkmaid may have spent too much time at Pullman.

Thanks!
Townfarmer, that's pretty easy to capture, they're always curious, just have to spend a bit of time with them, lol.

Bill, it is leftover from last year. Not much nutritional value, but great shelter and bedding for the babies this time of year.

Fitz, we kind of live in a bowl, it's pretty flat (but not as flat as you might think) but there are some pretty good hills surrounding us.

Dave, I just wonder about anyone that heads north before summer hits, lol.....Actually our weather was pretty awesome for that week. We needed her to stay longer, maybe the weather would have stayed nice....

Nice pictures
that 152 sure is cute and that picture with him sticking out his toung makes it look like he even thinks he is
