I've shot one, it was a saa colt. I didn't think it was to bad. In fact I want one. I've been wanting a saa and I really want a 44 40 rather than a 45lc.

Yes to question one ballistics they are running right with a 44 special if you reload.
Most of the over the counter stuff is pretty mild for the Cowboy shooting crowd.

Those run less than 800 fps you might as well take a sling shot.
You can run them a lot hotter.
