I totally agree... nothing prettier than a new born hereford calf ;-) I really like the deep red ones the best, and the ones with freckles. Truthfully, there are some very pretty colored longhorns too. And Whitepark cattle are pretty also.

I'm assuming their beefmasters? That seems a little high priced to me. Most of the 2 yr old pairs at the sale I went to a couple weeks ago went in the $1500 range.

I have 6 calves on the ground from a bull that got into one of our lease pastures that sounds just like the one your describing. The bull was white w/ black speckles all over him, black ears, muzzle and rings around his eyes. UGLY! The calves all look like him and 2 are out of solid black...

I've got herf/angus and hols/angus cross cows in the herd that are 17 and 18 yrs old and still going strong calving interval of 10 mts and some of the heaviest calves every time I sell. Now - I do not believe this to be the normal average productive lifespan of a cow. I would say 12 - 15 yrs...
