    Wild Thing ?

    I have several stripes showing up in the Braunvieh x Hereford cross. Some are having calves now sired by red Gelbvieh. Looks like they will make good cows, don't seem to notice any stripes yet in the offspring.

    Hereford Fall Calvers

    Mr. Vic, those are some fine looking Herefords. Hard to knock animals like those. Thanks for sharing.

    Black Simbrah

    Have an F1 Black simbra cow. She was raised here and is about 9-10 yrs old. Always raises a top calf and calves within 10 months. She was from a PB black Sim cow sired by a V-8 brahman bull. Had several simbra cattle but sold most during the drought of 2011 or 2012. I had no complaints...

    For the Gelbvieh breeders

    Try to get it soon. Picked him up Saturday and he immediately went to work. There was a injury in the loading process. Not to the bull but to the breeder. While closing the cut gate of the trailer, the bull kicked the gate. The cut gate hit the breeder square in the forehead, rolling him...

    For the Gelbvieh breeders

    Thanks thommoos. These 2 bulls due share similar numbers. I'm glad to here of your success and sounds like you are proud of the calves. Hope to have some of the same success. With the beefmaster cows, you probably have not had any calving issues? Looking forward to picking him up this...

    For the Gelbvieh breeders

    Not real sure on the frame score. I pick him up Saturday and will let you know. A guess would be maybe 5-6.

    For the Gelbvieh breeders

    Thanks Greenjeans, I geehawed this afternoon. I pick the bull up next week. Maybe I can get a picture of him in a couple of weeks. His ultra sound weight was 1585lbs and he passed soundness exam at 95 at 20 months old.

    For the Gelbvieh breeders

    I wanted opions on the bull, as I'm not real familiar with the breed personally. The bull looks stout,deep, well muscled, big footed, and eye appeal. He would be used on Hereford x Charolais cross, Hereford x Braunvieh, braunvieh and a few Brahma cross cows. The F-1's were raised on the farm...

    For the Gelbvieh breeders

    I have been considering this bull 1280709, and would appreciate ya'lls thoughts. Will be using on herefordcross, Char cross, and a few braunvieh cows. All heifers have or will be bred by my heifer bull. So, heifers are not in the plan at this time. I usually sell at the barn, but may keep a...

    Sires for Fall 2015 breeding season

    Mighty fine looking animals. What kind of pasture grass do your animals graze?

    August Charolais pictures

    I have been impressed with your cattle for sometime now. You continue to display fine examples of the breed.

    Gert Cross

    I think Char or Hereford. We had a few char/santa cross made good replacements and terminals. Although never owned any, the hereford/SG cross sure make some fine looking heifers. Using a Char or angus bull on hereford/santa cross offspring, could be the real winner at the barn.

    using F-1 braford bull

    Thanks for all the responses. I agree, the steer calves would cost me some at the sale. I may consider this a little more after last evening. With the heat and flies this year, the cows just did not want to move for pasture rotation until the sun went down.

    using F-1 braford bull

    I'm a little surprised it didn't take off as well. I agree, the only real benefit would be replacements. I also believe, the best producing cow for Arkansas is the brahman cross female. I currently only have 3 and one registered brahman female left out of about 40 head, but you have to be...

    using F-1 braford bull

    Alacowman, just getting an idea from experienced people like yourself. Thinking out loud and replacements considered, It would give me 1/4 brahman, 1/4 continental, and half hereford. The only black being used would be a terminal bull on the replacements, if I chose to use one. I have never...

    using F-1 braford bull

    Just a topic for discussion. I typically do not use a crossbred bull, but curious how an F-1 braford bull (hereford sired on brahman cow) would work on Charolais x hereford and Braunvieh x hereford cows. Would there be any real negative effects to the breeding if the F-1 bull and cross bred...

    Charolais or Hereford

    Greybeard, I agree with you about the charolais cows. Mine have been fine animals as well. Growing up in 80's we ran a char bull on mixed cows. Dad did really well with the off spring. Even received a bonus once for having the highest selling calf on a sale day. He reminds me of that from...

    Charolais or Hereford

    Either of he combination would be good in my eyes. I like Charolais cattle & brahman cattle, and have had both crosses with hereford. If i had good pasture, at my age, I would have Charolais cows and a hereford bull. We have had good luck with the Char cows, and have several F-1's now bred to...

    Braunvieh

    I have about 16 purebred braunvieh cows and 13 or so 1/2 bloods. Two of the purebloods are over 13 years old and still producing. I bought several bruanvieh cows and a full blood braunvieh bull for a good base of moma cows. The bull was good natured ( was shown) and had a 92lb birth weight...

    Just how wild is a Brahman

    They generally are a one or 2 person animal. I have had several reg brahman cattle. Have one reg cow raised here as twin, and 2 f-1's . I like them, but with my facilities and age that is all I want. The 3 are leaders, first ones when called, first to move to a new pasture, and the first to...
