    Hybrid Bull VS Purebred

I like looking at Black cattle more but I know red calves will make just as much money. They have been in Northern Alberta lately anyways.

    Hybrid Bull VS Purebred

You make a couple of good points! Have you bought any MC Quantock bulls yourself Supa Dexta? I would like to know if they last or not and if they are easy to maintain.

    Hybrid Bull VS Purebred

Hello farmers/ranchers of cattle today. I currently own 40 purebred Black Angus cattle and 7 Angus/Hereford F1 crosses. I was planning to purchase a nice stocky horned Hereford bull next year and eventually produce a 3 way cross Angus/Hereford/Fleckvieh to make replacement heifers and marketable...

    Black Baldy Question

I have a herd of purebred Angus cows, mostly black and a few reds as well. I put a Hereford bull on them last year and ended up with some nice black baldies I desired but rwf calves on the red cows (obviously) and two of the blacks. I know both sire and damn have to be red gene carriers for the...

    Odd couple

I like the first calf, she is cute. The twin is nuts though. I caught her to tag and such and when I let her go she ran through 3 fences and hid in the bush. Took 24 hours before I found her and got her back with her mom.

    Odd couple

Thanks for the link creekdrive! I thought they always threw speckled calves since they have shorthorn in them, and I know how long it takes to breed the chrome out of a shorthorn. If the speckle park heifers are replacement quality I may just keep them. The build is much the same as angus...

    Odd couple

Good to know. That makes it hard to retain heifers from this year if I don't want Speckles.

    Odd couple

So my neighbors speckle park bull got in with my cows for a few days. I wasn't sure if he bred anything until this calf was born. A week later I got another surprise. A set of twins, one speckled, the other straight black. Is it possible that both my BA bull and the neighbors speckle park...

I would love for that bull to run with my angus cows. Very nice indeed.

I love this girl because she takes good care of herself and her calf. Is always on time , and year after year gives me nice replacement heifers. I also like having her when I move cows because she'll follow me on horseback wherever then the rest usually follow.

    What Say You ??????

I happened to buy 8 bred Simangus heifers last fall that were bred to a Beefmaster bull. I am really impressed with the calves, they are very growthy and deep. They had 4 red bull calves and 4 black heifers, kinda funny how it worked out like that.

Thanks! I should have put a caption on that picture, he's the sire of the calves.

    The New Girls

I started out with 32 Black Angus and a few Herefords then added these big beautiful heifers that are supposedly a three way cross of Angus/Gelbvieh/Hereford and were bred to a Beef Master bull. They are a little bigger framed than the cows I had but I couldn't resist because I'm a sucker for...
