    15 month old bull ?

I`m thinking about keeping one of my Simmental bull calves for a bull to use this fall. I have 16 cows s and will A.I. them first then let the bull catch them. The bull will is out of Quantum leap and a Cowboy Cut cow and will be 15 months old by then I`m thinking he should be up to the job by...

    Hook's Eagle - Genex

Nice calf. Most all mine have been early this fall I`m blaming the extreme temps for that.

    Due to suffocating Heat.....

Not sure but I`m thinking this heat is to blame for all but one so far being anywhere from 5-9 days early. I also had a set of twins that were 30 days early and of course lost both of them. This heat has been brutal we`ve been setting or tied the old records all week.

    25% chance for red

It`s surprising sometimes how the red gene works. I had 3 calves in 24 hours by GLS Declaration 2 bulls and a heifer. The 2 black cows had red calves and the red cow that`s half Shorthorn had the black calf. I`m hoping to get some pictures of them they`re all nice calves. At least I got 1 red...

    Hook's Eagle Calf

Nice looking calf and it seems your birth weights are much more reasonable so far. I`m looking forward to fall calving here in about 10 days we should start with a Declaration calf.

    Fat Girl Delivers

That should be a good calf as stout as the cow is. I `ve wondered if that bull isn`t under used even though his brother is so popular even at $100 a straw. Congratulations on the calf.

    An Early Calf

We had one here a few years ago that was 35 days early. The poor little guy could barely reach the teats but kept up with the cow and made it no problems but we were just lucky.

    Our first split embryo

I agree people in the Simmental business at least the ones I`ve met are good people. By him doing that you will no doubt be more willing to do business with him again. I like hearing there are still people like that out there these days.

    Our first split embryo

Sorry to hear your bad luck is continuing into the new year. Not sure why but it seems the mating we look forward to the most is usually the ones something crazy like that happens to. After watching the Sim Magic on ice sale online and seeing what some embryos bring these days and knowing...

    Odds were 25%

May no be exactly what you ordered but that`s a really nice heifer. Just curious what bull is she out of ?

    2 On the ground

Looks like the cows are doing a good job.

Lookie Lookie at what I found in the woods

That cow may need a little help raising them but that`s really good luck getting 2 heifers out of an embryo. I`ve been told Simmentals have a higher chance of twins than some other breeds not sure if it`s true but we had 2 sets last year out of Simmentals One was a first calf heifer and she did...

Recommendations for an Angus AI bull

We`ve used the Brilliance bull that ABS carries on heifers with good results. I just asked my ABS rep if sexed semen was available on Brilliance and he said not at this time but I was the 3rd person this month to ask that question. Maybe it will be available later this year though. I would only...

    BioPRYN

I sometimes use the same test but just takes it to the Gold Standard lab at Bowling Green. It is a reasonable price and you can tell if they`re bred earlier in the pregnancy.

What to A.I. for club calves

I-80 has worked good here for heifers and the calves have had a good disposition. We just had an I-80 out of a Simmy Angus heifer that's pretty nice. There are others just like Boot Jack is asking it will just depend on what you want. I think you can still get I-80 from ABS. Daddy`s Money is...

Uno Mas Calf - only 70 lbs

They all look good. I think I may try Optimizer on a couple this fall. I would much rather my heifers spit out a 60-70# calf than having to pull a bigger one much less stress on me and the heifer.

    First Upgrade

These are the Upgrade bull calves we had last week both born unassisted. I will be using Upgrade again in hopes of a heifer.

    First Upgrade

At least you got a heifer I got 2 Upgrade bull calves last week really like the calves just hoping for heifers. You may want to keep that heifer or maybe I`ll trade you an upgrade bull for her. Ha ha

Is an AI program right for me?

The best thing to do would be to find out when one of the semen companies if having an A.I. class and learn to do it yourself. It is the cheapest way to improve your cow herd by far.

    Simangus or Baldy cows

I would try to find a baldy Simmental bull so you could have the best of both worlds. You would keep the growth and mothering ability of the Simmentals and still get a few baldy calves that everyone likes. There are several good Simmental breeders in Kentucky so you shouldn't have much trouble...
