    Pictures of a new Fence

Digging post holes by hand can take 45 min. around here. I did it that way as a kid. If the moisture ain't right a power digger will just sit on top a spin. Our soil can go from red clay to white gumbo twice in the same 3 foot hole. If you walk across a cotton field after a rain you will be...

    Pictures of a new Fence

I like woven wire fences as well. I have fences that have not been touched in 20 years. All my fences are field fence, even the cross fences, They are not as heavy wire as the perimeter though. Build them right and they will last. 3 foot in Alabama red clay is plenty deep. I won't go into the...

    kudzu

If you do plant it. Have tractor running with bushhog spinning. Throw seed and pop clutch, maybe you can beat it home. Trust me its that bad.

    Spring weed spraying costs

One thing to be aware of is differant weeds should be sprayed at differant times for best results. In my case its wild buttercup and dog fennel. The wild buttercup can be killed easier before it blooms with less chemical. My problem is the dog fennel is not up before the wild buttercup is at the...

    Spring weed spraying costs

Depends on what they spray with if 9-10 is a good price. 2,4-d is a lot cheaper than grazon. It cost me $8.32 per acre this year to spray my own with grazon. Also the rate they spray will have a big impact on their price. The type of weeds will determine the rate needed to kill them. A lot of...

How many cattle can be ran on 60 acres with ok grazing

I can run 1 cow and 1 calf per acre here in north Alabama. Some places are 30 acres per cow. Best thing to do is talk to your neighbors as this changes drastically from location to location.

dealing with people who change there price

What if he quoted you a price of 50 dollars a roll. Then for some reason fertlizer prices fell through the roof and everbody was selling lots and lots of hay for 20 dollars a roll. Would you still give him $50 even though he was selling to everbody else for $20?

    Yellow Buttercup

The prevailing winds are from the infested field towards the not so infested field. So I'm sure that some of them are from seeds from the infested field. The noninfested field has some in it that does not border the infested field as well. I did not spray last year as there was not enough to...

    Yellow Buttercup

I've often wandered why manure has so many weeds. I decided a long time ago not to use it for that reasen. With the high cost of fertilizer I have started using it again. I have some more pictures to load. I'm at work right now and I have a 125 horse motor to put on a extruder. After that I'll...

    Yellow Buttercup

Mike- the second pic with the tree in center has a few buttercups in it. The field to the left of the fence has a lot of wild buttercups in it. I was lazy and zoomed way out, may be the reason they ain't clearer. Stepper - yes both fields are use exactly the same. They were both grazed to about...

    Yellow Buttercup

I did try for a pic today but the batteries in the camera were dead. I'll get it tomorrow maybe. One field was treated with 2,4 -d only and the other with Grazon ( 2,4,-d and picloram) 2 years ago for 2 consecutive years. The 2,4-d side is full of buttercups. The grazon side did not have any...

    Yellow Buttercup

I'll try to get a pic of a couple of fields for you. They are next to each other. One was treated with 2,4-d and one with grazon 2 years ago. The picture is worth a 1000 words on which is best.
